Big Brother
As kids growing in a world without elderly rule
You always watched for me in the pool
As we rode down the Bonsall trails
Your DS80 used to always rail
As we chilled under summer stars
We usually trashed our RC Cars
I looked to you for the latest fads
Thanks for being my young dad
I love you brother, Fat Sack
With your pants always showing a little crack
I’ve seen you fall and I’ve seen you stumble
But it’s your continual pride that makes me humble
You’ve walked away to have some fun
Remember to come back, Prodigal Son
You always joke when I try to be smart
But I know what’s in your loving heart
Thanks for showing me the life ropes
Your guidance has given me a sense of hope
Oh Big Brother when mom was gone
Your truth and actions were never wrong
Zach, thanks for always being there
Letting me chill with your friends showed you care
As our relationship continues to grow
All the love from your little bro

I originally wrote this poem for my brother in 2001 or 2002. In 2007, we lost him to a motorcycle accident. I miss him every day and I still look up to him.
